Have you ever taken a ceramics class? Let me tell you, it's discouraging when you put weeks of effort into a project, only for it to break during its firing.
In the first reading this Sunday, Sirach says that, when we are tested and trialed, that is when we see who we truly are. Foundations are everything. Any structure without a firm base will evidently fall in the end. As we approach the Lenten season, it is important to examine our own faith base. Will it fall during tough times, or will it endure as we rely on God to care for us?
How we act, how we present ourselves in times of distress, displays the base we've grown through the years. It's easy to only focus on how you present yourself to others, but, if we were all blind, how would people see you? As in Luke's Gospel, it is essential to reflect upon ourselves before we attempt to help others.
March 5th is Ash Wednesday, which means we will be entering the Lenten season. Are you ready? How will you prepare the way for the Lord - how will you make space in your heart to encounter Him on Easter? I challenge you to meditate on where your relationship with God stands right now, and how you want it to change this Lent. As always, I'll be praying for you all!
